A 'grey' import is a vehicle made by Japanese manufacturers specifically for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM). Japanese imports are usually right hand drive, have a higher standard specification and lower average mileage than their UK equivalents, making them increasingly popular with second hand buyers here. They are also known by other names, for example, the Mitsubishi Shogun is called the Pajero, and the Mazda MX5 is known as the Eunos Roadster.

Despite the vehicles looking virtually identical to UK models, many components are different; meaning sourcing the correct parts has often been incredibly difficult.

Vehicle manufacturers often aim to maximise their profits by 'platform sharing', which means sharing components and designs among different models to reduce the costs of design and production. Not only do individual manufacturers use the same platform for a number of their own models, but more and more platforms are now shared between different manufacturers.

For example, the Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107 all share the same platform and engines!

What does this mean?

Despite the difference in the classification of the parts, you will get the same exceptional quality, accuracy and 3 Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty, that you do with ALL Blue Print parts.

The Automotive Industry saves over 50,000 tonnes of carbon every year by remanufacturing key components. Remanufacturing provides enhanced economic and environmental benefits when compared to other reclamation options, such as recycling.

Automotive Distributors Ltd (ADL) offers an unlimited mileage warranty against manufacturing defects on all its Blue Print brand products when these are purchased directly from ADL, its branches or subsidiaries, or through ADL's recognised distribution channels. This warranty does not seek to limit the rights of the consumer and is in addition to them.

The warranty commences on the date of installation of the component. Products fitted after 1st February 2009 carry a three year warranty. Products fitted before this date carry a two year warranty.

This is not a "no quibble" warranty – all warranty claims are subject to inspection at the discretion of ADL and must be submitted in accordance with the Company's procedures.

Under current EU regulation this is NOT true, provided products of 'Matching Quality' are used and work is carried out in line with the vehicle manufacturer's service schedules and specifications.

Blue Print components are specified to perform to the same standards as original equipment and to meet or exceed the matching quality requirements as detailed in the Block Exemption Regulation EC No.1400. According to this regulation, the correct installation of Blue Print parts will not invalidate any vehicle manufacturer's warranty.
