Date Listed: 20/07/2009

In a series of presentations made to journalists at their headquarters in Switzerland, Nissan Motors announced that they plan to open two Lithium-ion battery plants in Europe, one in the UK and one in Portugal, as part of their zero emission mobility program.

In a statement Nissan said, "The governments of the two countries have offered financial assistance and other support to secure the investment recognising the contribution that the plants are likely to make to the long term health of both the national and regional economies by being central to the growth of the automotive and associated industries, boosting jobs and pioneering the manufacture and sale of zero emission vehicles in Europe."
